Treatment For Eye Wrinkles. Treatments For Wrinkles Under Eyes

Posted by herbmaster on Jun 27, 2009 in Uncategorized

Although we may talk on the way Grandmother’s eye wrinkles creased as she smiled the sweet smile she had, but have you ever asked her how she reacted when those 1st wrinkles showed up? Granted, the skin will crease to a certain extent as we get older, but given the huge stress of daily lining, premature eye wrinkles are very much part of our lives, and we need to find a way to combat these foes that ravage the delicate skin around the eyes 1st.

The root cause

What causes eye wrinkles to develop before any other sorts of wrinkles? To begin with, the skin on our eyelids is, as already mentioned the most vulnerable to damage from external factors like the sun. Skin is also prone to aging, particularly owing to the muscle that lies beneath, known as orbicularis oculi, puts pressure on the eyelid into folds each time it contracts. As we age and collagen decreases, these parts become furrowed. Also, harm from the elements, which is most visible on our faces, also contributes in large measure to the creating of eye wrinkles.

Tried Botox on your wrinkles yet?

It’s tempting to start this section with Botox, the miracle drug from Allergan that has flattened out so many wrinkles. The primary effect of Botox is to stop intra-muscular transmission and causes a paralysis and sagging of the muscles. As it is administered through injection, one picks the location for action, and effectively smooth out wrinkles.

There are other ways too…

Increasingly, many people are turning to laser therapy to eliminate eye wrinkles. This involves a process known as fractional laser resurfacing, a process which dissolves the molecular links of a substance using a laser. As well as wrinkles, fractional laser surfacing can also be employed to eliminate other effects of sun damage, scars, stretch marks, actinic keratosis and or ‘spider veins’. These days, new procedures like Erbium laser resurfacing allow recovery in just a week, whereas earlier CO2 laser resurfacing often would take almost a month to heal.

Surgery, the last resort

This section is last as it only an option when everything else has not worked, which is unlikely, wouldn’t you say? Also, the cosmetic surgery technique known as Blepharoplasty does not eradicate eye wrinkles. What it does do is to remove the ugly pouches and dark circles underneath the eyes. And this is not the same thing. Assuming that you want to get rid of eye wrinkles, you should look at options such as Botox and laser therapy.

Check it if you can

As with most of our physical ailments, it is preferable to prevent eye wrinkles than cure them. So you are better off investing in quality sun screen, and a wide sun hat. There are also various over-the-counter anti-aging creams and lotions available in the market, but they may promise more than they deliver. Needless to add, before you take any kind of medical/surgical step, be sure to consult a professional.
